Words from The Stations

Let we hear some comments and stories from two of the stations!

Station 2- Book Areas/ Literacy/ Numeracy

This station was divided to three parts:

1) Aquadraw: The children had chance to use water pen to trace out the alphabets and numbers on the Aquadraw cloth.

2) Jigsaw Puzzle ABC & 123: The children needed to solve the puzzles with the guidance from us.

3) Story Books: The children had the opportunity to read and hold the books but they were more attracted with the pictures

There was one little girl who was a bit shy and was always with her mother. When we asked her to write, she refused to. But after few trials to encourage her, she finally started to do some writing. I was impressed with her mother that never bored to accompany her and kept on encouraging her to finish the puzzle A-Z which took her quite a long time to do so.

Station 4- Constructions

We planned to tell the stories of Bob the Builder first but surprisingly, they were only focussing on us for less than 2 minutes. Well then, we have to proceed to play time session since they were so excited to play when they saw many blocks in front of them.

On our observation, girls preferred to build beautiful castles complete with the decorations. The boys preferred to build simpler castles but tend to compete to build the tallest one among them. Competitive streak!

There was one little boy (6 years old) who was a bit inferior with his brother (8 years old) when we asked him to build a castle. He told us “ tak tahu lah buat istana, abang lagi pandai’’ which means that he did not want to build the castle because his brother was better at doing so. His answer made us felt sad but after we encouraged him few times, he started to build his castle. By looking at his castle, WOW! We could say that this boy was actually really creative. With this we realised how importance it was to keep on encouraging the kids in order to build their confidences. By using words good boy, clever boy and etc, they will feel more appreciated and more motivated.
